Productivity is often seen as the ultimate goal. But constantly consuming information can lead to the “illness of constant productivity,” which can harm our mental health and overall wellbeing.
Giving ourselves time to disconnect and let our minds wander can be incredibly beneficial. The best ideas often pop up when you are “bored” and your brain is relaxed, not under constant pressure.
It’s not necessarily about finding a hard schedule between being productive and disconnecting. It’s more about not trying to squeeze every minute of the day in terms of productivity. For example, instead of taking a bus, I prefer to walk without headphones, just looking around and letting my thoughts go on their own.
I think that sometimes the best thing you can do for yourself is to simply disconnect and let your mind wander.
